Mark Cavendish On Third Despite The Crash

In the Tour of Britain, Mark Cavendish and Marcel Kittel both triumph with Mark Cavendish finishing third. Not Tour de France but Tour of Britain and yet Kittel performs well. He is a powerhouse of Germany who leads the way.

He triumphed in the first stage of Tour de Britain itself. Completing an eight mile circuit he received the yellow jersey. Mark Cavendish in Yorkshire did hit the deck. Cavendish had a crash but this time it was not serious as the previous one. He did exceedingly well to take on after Kittel. It was rumoured that he had been to the hospital for check up but soon the rumours died down. According to Cavendish, alteration of the cleats in the initial moment of the stage took place. He was behind a car. Brakes slammed the car and there was an island to be found on the road. Cavendish turned left but bumped into another car. He came tumbling down on the road.

His quadriceps started to pain. He came back with one lap since the car of the team was no avail to him as it was in front. He was suffering in pain but then decided to sprint. Accidents are part and parcel of the game; it is just bad luck which causes accidents. The manager of the team stated that whatever he could see was in slow motion. But the real cause was that the riders took a toilet break and were returning to peloton. Chris Opie needed a change of wheel so the service was stopped. Cavendish could not find any place to go as he was on the bumper. Mirror of the left wing side was hit by Cavendish unfortunately. His leg was in total disaster as stated by him. The impact was huge but he managed to finish third.

Cavendish to miss RideLondon

Mark Cavendish is in a troubling phase of late- After he was forced to withdraw from Tour France given injury issues in the first stage, he would be missing out on RideLondon as well.

As per his doctors, the 29 year old is till in a vulnerable situation which nullified his participation in RideLondon.

It is said that Mark was all geared up to compete in the race for his team but it was the Omega Pharma management that directed him to rest.

“Unfortunately, I’m not able to take part in Ride London which is a truly amazing race”, said the sad rider.

“I am wishing great luck to every contestant in the race”, mark added in. “I hope it would be really wonderful courtesy huge support for UK cycling today.

“I was really proud to witness such an enormous support from public in the France 2014 opening stage & I really wish if I could ride there before my Brit supporters”, continued Mark. “I will try my level best to compete here next year.”

In the words of Ride-London race director Mick Bennett – “Mark has suggested that his present condition is too vulnerable to allow him to race this time. He feels that his still-to-recover shoulder won’t allow him to do full justice at this prestigious race.”

Knee injury, Schleck out of the Romandie tournament

Bad news for cyclist Andy Schleck and his fans. The rider will not be able to contest in the Tour of Romandie as he is still recuperating from the week-old knee injury. This is obviously going to be a bitter pill for Schleck to swallow, say the insiders. On the sidelines of the Liege Bastogne Liege tournament, Schleck has told the reporters of Cycling news, “The last week was really bad for me. Since I crashed in Amstel, my knee is still paining.”

When asked about the treatment he is currently receiving to recover from his injury, Schleck has revealed that, “I had a scan for my knee and the reports suggest that I should take rest for a while. I took part in Romandie but at the last moment I had to back out. Doctors say that after four to five days it will be ok. I hope I would get back to harder training by then.”

“I know my team expects a good show from me. Hence I want to prove my worth in the Suisse,” said Schleck who is now eyeing to warm up himself at the Tour de Suisse right after recovering from his injury. Immediately after the Suisse tour, Tour of Luxemburg will begin where Schleck wants to comeback with his desired form.

“My form was good before I got the injury. I used to practice behind the scooter for at least five hours every day. It is just the knee which is bothering me now,” said a frustrated Schleck while talking to the Cycling news.

However, the critics of Andy Schleck have said otherwise. They say that the cyclist who has not yet made it to the top 50 till date is resorting to this excuse whereas more focus should be onto Japanese rider Arashiro who cracked into the top 10 for a few times.
