Tour de France champion Mark Cavendish will make his debut for his new team, Tam Sky at the upcoming Tour of Qatar after the team confirmed its lineup for the race slated to be held between the 5th and 10th of February, 2012. Cavendish will be returning to Qatar after a season’s gap and during his last race here in 2009, he had won two stages. Bernhard Eisel, who was a team mate of Cavendish during his days with HTC – Highroad will also join the eight man Team Sky lineup for the race in the Desert Nation.

Cavendish, who joined Team Sky last year in October, immediately after being crowned the world champion is looking forward to his first competitive race with his new team, having spent much of December and January in the team’s training camp at Mallorca. Mark Cavendish, who won the Green Jersey at the Tour de France last year will, however, not have fellow British rider Bradley Wiggins in the team with him due to his commitments at other events for Team Sky and with the lineups for most of the other races announced, it seems that Cavendish will not have the time to gel with the man who helped him secure the world championship crown at Copenhagen last year.

According to Cavendish, he is looking forward to the race in Qatar, which, he believes will be an ideal preparation at the very beginning of the season and a win here will give him and his team a much needed confidence boost, considering that almost the entire lineup of Team Sky this year will be riding for the team for the first time.

However, that does not seem to be a deterrent for the world champion Mark Cavendish, who is extremely confident ahead of the race in Qatar.
